Admission requirements
What you need to apply
Every Bulgarian medical university sets and assesses its own admission requirements. The information below covers the general expectations that tend to apply across universities. Always confirm the exact, current requirements for your chosen university and intake with Bridgeway before applying.
General requirements
What most universities ask for
- Completed secondary education, including core science subjects such as Biology and Chemistry.
- A valid passport, used for identification and later for visa/residence purposes.
- Academic transcripts and certificates, often required with certified translation.
- A basic understanding of the language of teaching (English for the international track) sufficient to follow lectures and, later, Bulgarian language study to support clinical placements.
- Any additional documents a specific university requests for your intake (for example references, a passport-style photo, or a medical/health declaration).
Entrance assessment
Entrance exams for medicine in Bulgaria
Most Bulgarian medical universities require international applicants to sit an entrance assessment, typically covering core sciences such as Biology and Chemistry. Format, syllabus and dates can change between intakes, so Bridgeway confirms current details directly with the university on your behalf before you prepare.
